Flint Ridge is a famously known type of flint that comes from central Ohio. It is found in a small area in the country on a ridge within the ground. I personally travel to the mine and harvest this rock myself and then heat treat it to perfection once I am back at my residence. This material is prime for knappers, cabbers, or rock collectors as it comes in an array of colors, sheens, and patterns - probably the most versatile stone I know of.

Heat treating alters knappable material that is otherwise unchippable and transforms it to a glass like characteristic which helps work through quartz veins and improves appearance. Heat treating will also improve the colors of some flints. Browns can become reds, grays can become blues yellows become orange and so on. It's an oxidation of the minerals in the stone.

This stone will come in smaller but very workable chunks due to the heavy fracturing in Flint Ridge. Some the size of a hand to thinner, silver dollar size.
